London named as world’s best destination for 2019 in TripAdvisor’s annual Travellers’ Choice awards
And rightly so. Best city on Earth.

even though I was born in whitechapel - i'd happily just stay in south London nowadays (apart from West Ham and work). Centre's too crowded and the nice or interetsing bits of North and east London are packed out and toursity too.
I live in East Dulwich - it's fucking great for families, surrounded by greenery, off the tourist track, And the main drag is full of decent resturaents, food shops and other slighly overpriced gentrified retailers , down the road is Peckham if you want the pop up/street food hipster shit or a bit of dancing. My in-laws are in Portsmouth - great people/fucking shithole; or Maidenhead, less greta people boring as fuck. Have every intention of staying here until I drop - had a year in spain missed London loads. I even prefer the south London bitys of central London nowadays. Fuck north London.

There's loads of places I'd rather live/work.
That doesn't alter the fact that it's the best city on Earth.

There are loads of places I'd rather live/work than London.
Someone will be along in a minute to tell you where they are...and why.

As a kid in the 60's, living in the Greenwich and Lewisham area, I loved going to London for a day out. I moved to Borough in early 80's then Streatham and finally to bleedin' Walthamstow late 80's and by then had had enough and moved back to Essex. Having lived in Essex off and on for fifty years I still love going to London for a day out but I don't recognise the old SE1/SE8/SE10 & SE3 areas of my childhood....but that's progress for you.

As a “born and bred” Londoner (Stratford) who had an English Mum and an American Father, I have always been proud to be a Londoner. Any city of almost 9M people will have its bad areas and problems, but overall London has so much going for it. I have also lived in the USA and Cyprus and travelled extensively in my long life, but London (Upminster now) will always be my real home!

Out of Berlin, Barcelona and Lisbon, it's certainly the most funky.

Thickle - the Standard? So Westcombe Park then.
Still, that’s a step up from the old Kidbrooke estate
